Part P and the implications. Part P was set up by the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister (OPDM) in conjunction with the Institute of Electrical Engineers (IEE) to provide electrical safety requirments that contractors are meant to abide by. The new rules for electrical safety in the home came into force on 1st January 2005. More information regarding the Part P document is available from the Governments planning portal. For electrical contractors who work in domestic properties this means that their work, if notifiable, has to be either approved by the Local Building Authority Control (LBAC) or that they have to belong to a registered association which means the work can be done without all the inconvenience of the LBAC to the customer. NAPIT have a list of what is Notifiable or Not to the LBAC. What does this mean to you? Graham Electricals Limited is a registered company and as such this means that all Part P work undertaken will comply with the current regulations laid out by the ODPM. As a member of NAPIT we are required to carry insurances against problems arising from work done and also to be able to provide warranties for ALL work done. All Part P work is insurance backed and any other electrical work can be, if required by you the customer, warrantied. The warrany is optional but FREE to you as a customer. |
